Quotes

There are so many people who manage to capture ideas or concepts far better than I could.  Some of my favorites:

“A wonderful harmony is created when we join together the seemingly unconnected”
– Heraclitus

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”
– Leonardo da Vinci

“Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder; leadership determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall”
– Covey (7 Habits of Highly Effective People)

“In God we trust. All others bring data!”
– a classic no process owner can be without,  by W. Edwards Deming

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”
– Martin Luther King Jr.

“Principles are only worth anything when they’re inconvenient”
– Joan Allen’s character in “The Contender” (2000).

“Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.”
Dale Carnegie

“The thing about thinking out of the box is you have to know where the box is. People think my talent is thinking out of the box. But that’s not it—my talent is finding the box, defining it.”
– Penelope Trunk, blogger

I’m not sure who to attribute the following quotes to, but I think they are worthy of putting out there. (If anyone can verify the origin of any of them, I’ll gladly move them up. It would also give me an opportunity to see what other gems that author may have):

“Never mistake a clear view for a short distance”

“Results are the currency of credibility”

“Marketing is telling someone: “I am a good golfer”. Branding is having someone else say “I hear you’re a good golfer”

“Ideas create. Values protect”
